Lessons generally last 50 minutes. The student and teacher together look at habitual holding patterns or tensions that often turn up in our most mundane, everyday movements. We learn to stop doing these patterns, with patience, practice and a gentle, non-judgmental approach. Very simple, “pedestrian” movement is the first arena---walking, bending, lifting, speaking, etc. Later, we will apply the technique to more refined activities or sports. The teacher works with a light hands-on touch to help the student focus awareness and discover the many choices available in motion. Some time lying down, again with the teacher’s verbal and hands-on guidance, is generally incorporated into each lesson.
Loose-fitting comfortable clothing is appropriate. Wear something that allows easy movement, and that does not inhibit you from working on the floor. Generally, dresses, skirts, and tight jeans are not recommended.
A single lesson costs $95. If you buy a series of 8 or more lessons, the price is reduced to $90 a piece. For small groups of 2-3 students, the shared lesson cost will be $150.
Together we can assess your needs and tailor a program for you
