Presence in Performance:

Presence in Performance was a 2 day forum, open and free to the public, designed to focus on strategies for enhancing skill in Athletics, the Performing Arts and Daily Life. Presenters included Alexander Technique teachers Jessica Wolf, sharing her work in The Art of Breathing, Erik Bendix, examining coordination through the lens of developmental movement patterning and Dr. Joan Vickers, who works with professional athletes, surgeons and the police force linking improved motor responsiveness to visual perception.

The Moving Mind Symposium

A forum for dialogue between the Arts and Sciences, featuring interactive workshops, panels and lectures by some of the most dynamic minds exploring the interface of Science and Creativity. Featured presenters were keynote speaker and noted neuroscientist, Dr. V. S. Ramachandran, pioneer in Somatic Movement Education and founder of the School for Body-Mind-Centering, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, neuroscience professor and movement researcher, Dr. Emily Cross, and visual artist, mounting his monumental projected work Slow Dancing, David Michalek.

Meg Jolley teaches in the Theatre and Dance Department of Pomona College. Meg has been teaching Alexander Technique in Motion to dancers and other performing artists for many years both at Pomona and at her studio here in Pasadena.
